The Sri Lankan Young Professional Association (SLYPA) - Collegiate Mentorship Program (CMP) was created to give Sri Lankan college students across the US access to a pool of knowledge that might otherwise be unavailable to them. SLYPA's membership is made up of Sri Lankan young working professionals and graduate students with backgrounds in law, medicine, art, business, government, education, information technology, and more.
SLYPA-CMP™ matches up college students with SLYPA members across the US (ideally in the same geographic area), who can provide advice and guidance to students interested in a particular field of study or a particular career path. By way of example, (1) a biology or chemistry major who has questions about what it takes to get into and do well in a top medical school; (2) an education major who has questions about what it takes to develop a curriculum for a 3rd grade class; and (3) a finance major who wants to know what the lifestyle of an investment banker is like would all be matched up with SLYPA members who have experience in those respective fields and could easily answer those questions via e-mail, on a phone call, or face to face over coffee.
We will make every effort to accommodate requests for a mentor, however, the availability of mentors will depends on the schedules of the SLYPA members.
