 | Shireen Idroos (SLYPA-NY) Shireen Idroos is a Major Gifts Officer at the New York based nonprofit organization, The Children's Health Fund (CHF), which was founded by Paul Simon and Dr. Irwin Redlener in 1987 to provide free, comprehensive, high-quality health care via state-of-the-art mobile medical units to poor and homeless children and families around the country. Prior to her role at CHF, Shireen served as the Advocacy, Policy and Research Coordinator for the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund, where she managed their appropriations process and research efforts. She currently volunteers with the World Children's Initiative to coordinate their major gifts effort for Project Peds: Sri Lanka. Shireen has an M.P.A. from New York University's Wagner School and B.A. from Vassar College. |  | Taryne Jayatilaka (SLYPA-LA) Taryne Jayatilaka is currently the MSO Director of Accountable Health Care MSO in Signal Hill, California. She acts as an intermediary between hospitals, insurance companies, and physicians in the managed health care industry. She was formerly the IPA Coordinator for Accountable Health Care IPA in Long Beach, CA. Taryne is also an events planner, planning a wide variety of events, including weddings in California and New York. She currently serves on the Board of Managers of the Los Altos Family YMCA. Taryne was a Campaign Events Assistant for Children's Defense Fund and a Congressional Fellow for the Congressional Children's Caucus, both in Washington DC. Taryne received her B.A. in English from Georgetown University, completed a Post-Bac Pre-Med Program at Temple University, and holds an M.P.A. in Public Administration from USC. |  | Bahi Kandavel (SLYPA-CHI) Bahi Kandavel is the head trader at Jump Power LLC, a Chicago-based power trading firm under the Jump Trading umbrella. Jump Power employs a highly quantitative, analytical approach to trading in the wholesale US electricity markets. Prior to launching Jump Power, Bahi was a Senior Energy Trading Associate at DC Energy in Vienna, VA. Bahi is a graduate of the Investment Management program at Northwater Capital, a Toronto-based fund of hedge funds, where he contributed to areas of the firm encompassing risk management, structuring, hedge fund investments, quantitative research and marketing. Bahi has completed all three levels of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, and holds a Master of Mathematical Finance and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering Science from the University of Toronto. |  | Katariina Tuovinen (SLYPA-SF) Katariina Tuovinen currently works for the National Park Service at Golden Gate National Recreation Area in San Francisco, where she is involved in budget and financial management. Katariina has also held business and financial management roles in Denver and Washington DC with the National Park Service. Katariina has worked in Sri Lanka, focusing on organizational capacity building with farmer companies and farmer organizations in the Mahaweli Development Scheme. She has a B.S. from Cornell, M.S. and M.A degrees from UC Berkeley, and an M.B.A from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. |  | Walavan Sivakumar (SLYPA-LA) Walavan Sivakumar is a 4th year medical student at the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. He plans to do his residency in Neurological Surgery and has taken an additional year to do research on Glioblastoma Multiforme, which is the deadliest and most common type of primary brain tumor. In addition to serving on multiple administrative committees at the medical school, Walavan sits on the Liaison Committee for the Medical Education National Committee, which is the accreditation body for all United States medical schools. Walavan completed his B.S. in Neuroscience at the University of California Los Angeles. |  | Nishan Kottahachchi (SLYPA-DC) Nishan Kottahachchi is an associate in the Trademark, Copyright, and Advertising group at Cooley Godward Kronish LLP in Washington DC. Nishan's specializes in litigation, counseling, prosecution, and licensing in the field of trademark, copyright, and advertising law. Prior to joining Cooley, Nishan was an associate in the Trademark and Copyright group of Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP in Washington DC and practiced as an Intellectual Property associate with Harvey Siskind Jacobs LLP in San Francisco. Nishan earned a B.A. in Political Science from Rutgers University and received his J.D. from American University Washington College of Law. Nishan is admitted to practice law in DC and California. He is the founder of SLYPA. | Former SLYPA Board Members  | Nimi Amirthalingam (SLYPA-DC) Nimi Amirthalingam is an associate at Bonner Kiernan Trebach & Crociata LLP in Washington DC. His practice focuses on a range of civil litigation matters. He has served as lead counsel on numerous cases and has also presented a number of cases for trial. Nimi received his B.A. from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Economics and a minor in Business Law. He earned his J.D. from American University Washington College of Law. Nimi is admitted to practice law in DC and NY. | |
