| What is SLYPA ? |
SLYPA ™ (pronounced slip-ah) is an acronym for the Sri Lankan Young Professional Association™. SLYPA was created in 2003, with its first branch in San Francisco. Click here to learn more

| Who can join SLYPA? |
SLYPA is open to young working professionals and graduate students of Sri Lankan descent residing in the United States. SLYPA is not currently available outside of the US, but that may change in the future.
SLYPA’s membership consists of Sri Lankan young professionals of all backgrounds, including but not limited to Sinhalese, Tamils, and Muslims; Buddhists, Hindus, and Christians. SLYPA is made up of doctors, lawyers, artists, teachers, entrepreneurs, bankers, TV producers, military and law enforcement personnel, singers, actors, dancers, writers, models, scientists, engineers, graduate students, and more.
There is no set age limit, although SLYPA members tend to be in their 20s and 30s.

| What is the membership fee? |
There is currently no membership fee to join SLYPA. However, this may change in the future.

| Where are the SLYPA Branches? |
SLYPA currently has branches in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and Washington DC. However, SLYPA members are located in cities across the United States. Additional branches in cities across the US will open in the near future.

| When are the SLYPA events? |
SLYPA events are organized by members in each city. No one person is responsible and there is no set procedure for organization of events. As more members become personally involved, the frequency and different types of events increases. SLYPA events are held throughout the week and on weekends in order to accommodate the hectic work and social schedules of its members.

| Is SLYPA affilicated with any other Sri Lankan organizations? |
SLYPA is not currently affiliated with any Sri Lankan organizations in the US or abroad. SLYPA is an independent organization. However, SLYPA has close ties with many Sri Lankan organizations and has co-sponsored events with other local and national organizations in the past, and will likely continue to do so in the future, on a case by case basis.
